The skills behind good leadership.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognise emotions in ourselves and others, to manage them, and to use that understanding to build better relationships. It sits under BUILD’s founding principles of dignity, care and the common good.

The course is practical and reflective. Participants look at how they respond under pressure, practise listening and difficult conversations, and leave with habits they can use the next day.

What you’ll learn

  • Self-awareness: noticing what you feel and why
  • Self-regulation: staying steady under pressure
  • Empathy and listening
  • Handling conflict and difficult conversations
  • Emotional intelligence in teaching, parenting and leading teams
