Founded on dignity, freedom and the common good.
The Belize Unity Institute for Leadership and Development was founded in June 2014 to positively impact the long-term sustainable human development of Belize. Its founding principles are human dignity, freedom, the common good, justice, care and agency.
The first activities, in Belmopan, were delivered at the George Price Center for Peace and Development, with a focus on education and training: the concept of sustainable human development, competency-based education, personal employment readiness and emotional intelligence.
Later trainings moved to Dangriga, in rented space at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, the Pelican Beach Resort and Ecumenical Junior College, before BUILD opened its own doors in 2026.
