Belize’s National Curriculum Framework rests on competency-based education, and the leaders of schools and tertiary institutions carry most of the weight of making it real. For 2026–27 BUILD is developing a pilot graduate-level course in CBE for those leaders, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and stakeholders.
The course will be facilitated by three of our most outstanding educators, Drs. Brown, Godfrey and Vairez. Ms. Paz from the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum Unit, Ms. Howell from the Teacher Learning Institute, and Mr. Cano and Mr. Sho, the Stann Creek and Toledo District Education Managers, and their teams are integral to the course’s development and delivery.
Alongside it, BUILD will develop tailored training courses for Stann Creek District schools, based on need and available resources.
